HOW ARE CUSTOM DIE CUT STICKERS MADE?

Die-cut stickers are one of the most common sticker types, and also one of the most high quality.

Unlike traditional stickers that are printed onto sheets or rolls that are already cut out, a die-cut sticker is cut out using a cutting machine that can make just about any design.  Think of a printer with a small and very sharp blade.  The blade moves around and rotates as it cuts while the vinyl sticker material is fed through the machine.

Vinyl is basically a large sheet of a sticker, it has a backing (the stuff you peel off the back of the sticker to stick) that is weaker than a normal backing.  The blade is set to only cut through the actual vinyl, and not the backing.

Once cutting is done, it’s time to weed the sticker.  This is the process of removing all the extra material that isn’t a part of the final sticker.  This is the tough part and requires a super steady hand and special tools!

Now that the sticker is all weeded out, we take a clear adhesive sheet and very carefully unroll it perfectly even on top of the entire sheet.

The final step is to cut the individual stickers apart on the sheet.  We typically use the same cutter for this process as well.

It’s a lot of work making stickers, but it’s a labor of passion, to help others bring their ideas to life!
